Key Takeaways

  • Rockstar Games confirmed that GTA 6 pre-orders will open on June 25, 2026, ending seven months of silence broken only by routine GTA Online updates
  • The official cover art uses the series’ collage style, featuring Jason Duval, Lucia Caminos, and Vice City elements.
  • Pricing and editions were not revealed; pre-orders confirmed via PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and select retailers.
  • Take-Two Interactive’s stock rose after the announcement, following CEO Strauss Zelnick’s comments on summer marketing ramp-up.

After seven months of silence, Rockstar Games updated GTA 6 on June 18, confirming that pre-orders will open on June 25.

The studio also revealed the game’s official cover art. Pricing and edition details were not announced, though fans can currently wishlist the title on PlayStation Store and Xbox Store to receive pre-order notifications.

Pre-orders will be available through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and select retailers, including Target and Amazon.

The update follows Rockstar’s earlier confirmation of a November 19 release date, marking the next key milestone in the game’s launch timeline.

What the Cover Art Actually Shows

The newly revealed cover features protagonists Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval at the center of the series’ signature grid design. Surrounding them are Vice City scenes, including a motorcycle stunt, a police chase, and a helicopter with a mounted minigun.

The lower section shows previously revealed characters Boobie Ike, a Vice City entrepreneur and club owner, and Raul Bautista, a bank robber whose story intersects with Lucia and Jason. An alligator also appears, reinforcing the Florida-inspired setting.

Notably, the promotional materials and storefront listings reaffirm that the title is skipping a simultaneous PC game release, launching exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Rockstar also shared a brief story premise: a routine job draws Jason and Lucia into a wider conspiracy across the state of Leonida, forcing them to rely on each other for survival.

The official website has been updated with an animated Vice City skyline, and Rockstar’s social media branding now reflects a blue-and-pink Vice City aesthetic.

Investor Reaction and What Comes Next

The reveal of the cover art and June 25 pre-orders pushed Take-Two Interactive’s stock higher, reflecting strong investor interest ahead of GTA 6’s November release.

The scale of the launch has already influenced competing release schedules, with publishers adjusting timelines to avoid overlap.

The timing aligns with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick’s May 21 earnings comments that marketing would ramp up over the summer, marking a shift from earlier uncertainty around pre-order timing.

The rollout suggests Rockstar is moving into an active marketing phase rather than continuing to tease.

Rockstar’s Newswire confirms pre-orders will open via digital storefronts and select retailers, though pricing and editions are still unannounced.

A third trailer has not been confirmed, but speculation continues that it could arrive during this marketing window. Pricing remains the key unknown heading into next week, with industry discussion around a potential $80 price point.
