Key Takeaways

  • Nintendo confirmed a Nintendo Direct for June 9, 2026 beginning at 7:00 AM PT / 10:00 AM ET / 3:00 PM BST, running for approximately 50 minutes
  • A 95-minute Nintendo Treehouse: Live broadcast will follow immediately, offering extended gameplay demonstrations and developer commentary on selected titles
  • The combined runtime of roughly 145 minutes makes this Nintendo’s longest single showcase day in recent memory, the first major general Direct in nine months
  • Nintendo Store maintenance is planned for June 11, two days after the event, hinting at a potential storefront overhaul for Switch and Switch 2

Nintendo has had a quieter showcase season than its rivals. While PlayStation’s State of Play featured God of War Laufey and Xbox showcased Gears of War: E-Day, Persona 6, and Halo, Nintendo remained silent until now.

Nintendo of America confirmed a June 9 Nintendo Direct on X, scheduled for 7:00 AM PT and running about 50 minutes, followed by a 95-minute Nintendo Treehouse: Live featuring gameplay demos and developer commentary.

The first general Nintendo Direct in nine months arrives in the middle of the summer announcement season.

After a turbulent start to 2026, with Switch 2 pricing drawing investor concern, Nintendo needs to deliver strong software announcements and release dates.

What Nintendo Has Confirmed and What the Clock Tells Us

The showcase will focus on games arriving on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in 2026. That focus is notable, as Nintendo has limited the presentation to this year’s releases, suggesting concrete launch dates rather than distant announcements.

At roughly 50 minutes, the Direct is longer than many past presentations. Combined with the 95-minute Treehouse that follows, Nintendo is delivering nearly 145 minutes of content in a single day.

As noted by Polygon, Nintendo has also scheduled maintenance for its online store on June 11, potentially signalling storefront updates tied to new game announcements for Switch and Switch 2.

For viewers, the 50-minute Direct will cover the announcements, while Treehouse will provide extended gameplay demonstrations. Nintendo will stream both live on its official YouTube and Twitch channels.

What Players Are Expecting and What Nintendo Hasn’t Said

Nintendo has confirmed no specific titles, fueling speculation ahead of the show. Among the biggest rumors is a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, with insider Nate the Hate claiming it is targeting a holiday 2026 release.

Reports have also pointed to Switch 2 versions of Pikmin 4 and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, while a leaker with a strong recent track record has suggested a new Wario Land game.

Third-party announcements are also expected to feature prominently, echoing modern gaming trends where platform exclusives are weaponized to drive hardware adoption.

Fans are hoping for a release date for The Duskbloods, FromSoftware’s Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, alongside appearances from Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and Star Fox.

The Duskbloods have not been shown since their reveal, making this Direct a likely venue for new gameplay.

Pokémon DLC for Pokopia and another trailer for Pokémon Winds and Waves have also been mentioned in rumors, though neither is confirmed.

What is certain is that Nintendo has spent nine months building towards this showcase. On June 9 at 7:00 AM PT, players will finally see what they have been preparing.
